The NIH Design Requirements Manual: Biocontainment Overview

Learn about recent updates to the Design Requirements Manual and how that affects BSL3 Labs. 

The NIH Design Requirements Manual (DRM) establishes design requirements and technical criteria for NIH facilities and other facilities constructed with NIH funds. Written in 1996, it underwent a major revision in 2016, and there have been three more recent up,tes. NIH subject matter experts will provide an overview of contents, organization and use of the DRM, focusing on requirements and applications for biocontainment facilities, including BSL-3. This class will combine presentations with interactive exercises, and will benefit professionals involved in the design, construction and operation of these specialized research facilities.
