BIOGRAPHY
Kaitlyn began her career as a licensed and registered veterinary technician with experience in laboratory animal medicine, small animal practice, and wildlife rehabilitation. She later earned a Master of Public Health with a specialization in veterinary public health and has since created a biosecurity program for the Ohio swine industry, supported USDA APHIS incident command responses to a foreign zoonotic disease, participated at a joint USDA APHIS/FBI criminal epidemiological investigation course, and contributed to international food safety initiatives. Over the past 6.5 years at UCLA, she has served as the inaugural Vivarium Safety Officer, establishing and advancing the Animal Research Safety Program while leading systemwide efforts across the University of California to standardize practices, share resources, to strengthen health and safety in animal research operations.
