BIOGRAPHY
Dan Cook, a registered LEED Professional, is the Director of Commissioning for R.G. Vanderweil Engineers in Boston, MA with over 25 years of experience in the building construction and commissioning industry. He has worked on a full range of projects for different clients and market sectors, primarily focusing on laboratory, biocontainment and mission critical facilities.
Dan was trained in the US Navy’s Advanced Electronics Training program for shipboard weapon direction systems were he honorably served for 6 years.
Following his time spent in the US Navy, he transitioned to the civilian world at Phoenix Controls, a leading manufacturer of laboratory environmental controls equipment. He served for over 5 years in multiple roles including Field Service Engineering, Sales support, product support and new product development.
Eagleson connection – Dan attended multiple classes at the Institute and was a key member of a renovation project of the airflow control valves and control system in the Baker Company demonstration laboratory.
He then went to work for Cornerstone Commissioning where he spent 19 years, starting out as a Commissioning Engineer moving through the ranks to Director of Commissioning. He oversaw the commissioning process and operations for the whole company and specialized in biocontainment laboratories, including new construction, facility assessments, renovations, and annual performance verifications.
Eagleson connection – Dan has been an instructor at the Verifying BSL-3 Performance class at the Institute since 2005.
In September 2024, Dan started a new position at R.G. Vanderweil Engineers, as the Director of Commissioning where he leads a team of commissioning professionals for a full range of projects.
Eagleson connection – This is Dan’s first year at the BSL-3 Facilities Design and Operation class.
