A respected laboratory animal veterinarian and regulatory expert, Dr. Smith brings extensive leadership experience to her role. She oversees the development and delivery of AALAS’s scientific, educational, and certification programs, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and relevance. Dr. Smith also directs editorial operations for AALAS journals and podcasts, and leads a talented team dedicated to creating innovative training resources. She is deeply committed to advancing educational excellence in promoting the humane care and use of animals in research. Dr. Smith earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University and is a Diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine.
