BIOGRAPHY
Nathaniel Powell, Jr., DVM, MS Retired ConsultantFormer Chief, Comparative Medicine Branch and Director of the Laboratory Animal Medicine Residency Program, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  Dr. Powell received his veterinary degree from Tuskegee University and a master’s degree in National Resource Strategy from the Dwight D. Eisenhower School of Leadership, Department of Defense Senior Service School.  He served as the Director of the Veterinary Medicine Division at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, and the Director of the Center for Laboratory Animal Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.  He also served as the Attending Veterinarian at Tuskegee University.  He has extensive experience in biocontainment operations and clinical care for multiple laboratory animal species including nonhuman primates and rodents.  Dr. Powell is board certified in Laboratory Animal Medicine and currently serves as a member of the AAALAC International Council on Accreditation.
