BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Sherrie Jean is the Deputy Branch Chief of the animal research program at a government facility in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Jean received her bachelor of science and doctorate of veterinary medicine from Louisiana State University. She received training in laboratory animal medicine through the Emory University School of Medicine and the Emory NPRC residency program (2007- 2009).  She completed a nonhuman primate medicine fellowship (2009-2010) during which time she received 6 weeks of training in high containment (BSL 3 & 4) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  Dr. Jean has 19 years of experience working in laboratory animal medicine, nonhuman primate medicine, Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), training and development of laboratory animal professionals, and supporting and developing infectious disease animal models (ABSL 2 and 3).  Dr. Jean is a diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DACLAM), an AAALAC Ad Hoc Specialist, an AVMA COE site visitor, the 2023-2024 President for the Association of Primate Veterinarians (APV), and current APV Liaison to the European Primate Veterinarians.
