Timothy Mandrell, DVM, DACLAM

BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Timothy Mandrell is a laboratory animal veterinarian and vivarium planning consultant with over 30 years of experience supporting academic, government, and private research programs in the U.S. and internationally. His professional expertise includes research animal program administration, vivarium and facility design, animal biosafety, and occupational health and safety.
A Diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM), Dr. Mandrell has authored or co-authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, and book chapters. He has held numerous leadership roles within ACLAM, the American Society of Laboratory Animal Practitioners (ASLAP), and the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS). His AALAS service includes chairing development of the Animal Technician Biosafety Course for the AALAS Learning Library.
Dr. Mandrell earned his BS and DVM from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Comparative Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He has directed research animal programs at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, the National Center for Toxicological Research, and the University of Maryland, Baltimore. He currently serves as Attending Veterinarian for the University of Memphis and as an independent consultant.
