BIOGRAPHY
Debra Hickman, DVM, MS, DACLAM, DACAW is the Chief Accreditation Officer for AAALAC International. She obtained her veterinary degree and completed residency training in laboratory animal medicine at the University of Illinois at Urbana. She is a Diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) and the American College of Animal Welfare (ACAW). Previously, she served as the Associate Vice President for Animal Resources and Attending Veterinarian at Purdue University and the Director and Attending Veterinarian at Indiana University School of Medicine. She has served in multiple leadership positions, including President of ACLAM, a member of the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) Board of Directors, and a member of the AVMA Working Group for Laboratory Animal Medicine, Panel on Euthanasia. She has received numerous accolades throughout her career, including the Charles A. Griffin Award from the AALAS and the ACLAM Mentoring Award. Her scholarly contributions include authoring over 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts and several book chapters on animal welfare and laboratory animal science, making her a highly respected figure in the field.
