BIOGRAPHY
Dan Frasier, PE, CCP is a registered Professional Engineer and is Vice President/General Manager of Cornerstone Commissioning, LLC of Winchester, Massachusetts. He has a diverse, hands-on background in commissioning, design, installation, and service of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Life Safety systems, with a specialization in building controls for laboratory, vivarium and bio-containment facilities. He worked for his family’s five-generation Mechanical Contracting firm in the 1970s and 80s, learning the trades of plumbing, heating, sheet metal fabrication and project management. After earning his bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics from the University of Minnesota, he was a sales manager for United McGill Corporation, specializing in air distribution and acoustical design for HVAC systems. In the 1990s, he was an HVAC manufacturer’s representative, focusing on laboratory control systems, variable frequency drives and custom air handling systems. From 1999 to 2002, he worked for Phoenix Controls Corporation as Marketing Manager, where he authored books and articles on environmental control for laboratory and vivarium facilities. He served on multiple laboratory standards committees, chairing the ASHRAE Technical Committee for animal environments. Dan’s passion for serving owners through design and construction to make buildings meet owner’s needs combined with his facility background resulted in the establishment of Cornerstone Commissioning in 2001. The firm has successfully commissioned over 1,000 mission critical facilities, more than 300 of which are BSL-3 or higher biocontainment labs.
